by Marcel Stephenson

Neither of my parents told me about acne. Since both of them had acne problems of their own, I really wish they would have spoken to me about it. It might have helped me prepare for becoming the scourge of the universe.

Both of my parents did, in fact, talk to me about my zit condition, after the fact. What they both had to say, really did not give me a lot of faith that I would come through this with flying colors. I had to find out, on my own, what my parents never really discovered for themselves. How sad is that?

Basically all teenagers will at some point have acne. It’s your body’s way of saying that you are changing into an adult. The oils that secrete from our sweat glands will be affected by our hormones. Oily and full with bacteria, our bodies are not finding this very inviting.

This bacteria and dead skin cells will clog our skin pores in our faxes, necks, backs shoulder and other body parts. This reaction to the hormonal change that your body is going through is acne.

Here are a few tips to help you.

1. Don’t believe everything you hear about acne products

Since the drugstore is right down the street, you will probably go there to try to find some acne treatments.

There are a lot of crap products being sold over the counter. Some of these work, some doesn’t. If you know what you are looking for, you will find some awesome products that really work. Look, first, at the active ingredients. Look at the “caution” label. If it says that the product might cause skin irritation, you might want to let it go for now.

2. Don’t scrub or start popping the zits.

If you are in the habit of daily scrubbing your face red, stop it immediately. You will only cause irritation to the acne area, and could spread the infection even more. Popping pimples is also a no-no. This will also spread the bacteria even more, and impact your skin pores that are already infected.

When your pimples are ready to pop, they will. The urge to pop these zits can be overwhelming, They itch and hurt. Let them pop on their own accord. This way, you are not impacting the pore and causing it to be more swollen and infected later.

3. Lifestyle change

What ever you put into your body will come out of it. If you eat already processed food, such as a bag of potato chips, your body, the organic food processor, doesn’t have to work very hard to digest the food.

Your body is trying to get rid of that oily, hormonal mess. You can help your body by eating healthier, and not adding to that mess. By doing this you have less acne breakouts.

4. Only see a dermatologist after you have tried the miracle cures

There are a lot of miracle cures to cure acne quickly. You might have seen some of them on the TV commercials. Try these before you go to the dermatologist. The dermatologist is the last resort. You don’t have anything to lose. If they work, good for you. If they don’t work, maybe it’s time to book an appointment by the dermatologist.
