Causes of Hemorrhoids Exposed

When it comes to the causes of hemorrhoids many factors come into play. There are many causes of hemorrhoids. By learning the causes of hemorrhoids you can better prepare yourself in treating and eliminating them if you have flair ups.

You really need to know a few things about treating hemorrhoids to fully understand hemorrhoids. Every human being has them and for most of us, we don’t know we do until they start to give us problems. First thing you should know what a hemorrhoid is; a hemorrhoid is a swollen and inflamed vein that is in or outside of your anal opening. There are two types of hemorrhoids internal and external. Almost all of the people who suffer from them have the external type.

One of the causes of hemorrhoids is straining your self when using the bathroom. When you push to hard you’re applying to much pressure on the veins in your anal canal or rectum. So by not forcing yourself to make a bowl movement you can eliminate the pressure on the veins and keep your hemorrhoids at normal size. Other factors that will increase the pressure on the veins are sitting for long periods of times, constipation or diarrhea, obesity, being pregnant, and anal sex. By not sitting for long periods of time you will relieve the pressure on your rectum. If you do have to sit for a long time it’s best to get up every chance you have and walk around. This will briefly take the pressure off your rectum veins.

Hemorrhoids will get worst the older you get. As your anal veins age they become weaker and this will cause them to swell and get irritated faster. Most of these factors however can be avoided by practicing good hygiene. But some we won’t have any control over.

Lifestyle changes form one category of avoidance for hemorrhoids. Included in these are obesity, anal intercourse, and constipation. Having anal sex is not wise for people with hemorrhoids. Also, being overweight can really strain the rectal and anal area and can cause hemorrhoids, as can being constipated by not having good eating habits. A good, balanced diet will allow one to have softer stools that can help keep someone from straining themselves. These together are basic, common sense ways to help with this condition.

Medications can actually be one of the many causes of hemorrhoids. Some of these out there today cause constipation, for example, which increases pressure that causes hemorrhoids. Anyone who is prone to getting hemorrhoids should avoid these types of medication. For pain relief, Tylenol is a good choice, because most pain relievers will cause constipation. For this reason most doctors don’t prescribe pain killers for hemorrhoids.

If you learn all the causes of hemorrhoids then you can take control of the situation. Some things to practice are eating healthy, exercising daily, and drink lots of fluids. If you follow these three simple plans you won’t ever have to worry about the symptoms of swollen and irritated hemorrhoids.
