Suffering from baldness? Cover it up with a tattoo that fits your personality.
That’s what Ian Watson tells customers who visit his shop in Birmingham, England. The 38-year-old entrepreneur said he can fill in bald spots with a customized tattoo that matches the person’s “missing” hair.
This quirky “cure” is offered at the Hairloss Improvement Studio (HIS) which Watson operates with his sister-in-law Ranbir Rai-Watson.
“We look at the size of the follicles where the hair is still growing, match the pigment and size, and blend it in to what they have got. You can’t tell it has been recreated,” he said.
“Watson can then fill in a receding hairline or bald patches by carefully replicating lost follicles in tattoo ink,” added Sky News.
For the process to work, however, the customer must have shaved hair or a bald head. Using his own range of cosmetic head tattooing techniques, Watson can give you a full natural head of hair like you’ve just been drafted. Yup, the result is similar to a military haircut.
You don’t have to look far to discover the inspiration behind Watson’s idea. The tattoo specialist is no stranger to hair loss, having suffered the embarrassment and emotional trauma that baldness brings. He opened his shop last year to reach out to those suffering the same fate.
“My life has been totally transformed; the treatment has changed my life and restored the confidence I lost when losing my hair. I set up HIS to share my experience,” he revealed.
So far, Watson claims he has received no complaints from his unique remedy that also works for people who have been scarred from hair transplants.
“We are changing people’s lives. People are coming in with scarring, patches of hair loss (and afterwards) it looks as if they have got a full head of hair and it is their choice to shave,” he said.
Your new “haircut” will appear after the first treatment but it generally takes three to five days before you can appreciate the final results.
Still, not everyone may welcome the idea of trading a bald head for a military haircut. If you want a full head of hair, HIS is definitely not for you, especially if you’re scared of needles.
