It is not fun to have acne, and it affects millions of teens every year and the number is growing. If you make these mistakes treating your acne, you will make your acne worse and it can remain a problem for you well into adulthood.
1. Squeezing the Pimples
Stop squeezing pimples, today. When you squeeze a pimple you could be shoving the puss in it back into the pores. This means the puss is going back in, instead of coming out. This will only aggravate the problem, by spreading the bacteria further which causes more infection.
2. Scrubbing Your Acne
If you scrub the affected area you will cause open, oozing sore. These will take much longer to heals, and are much more prone to get infected. So don’t scrub areas that are affected by acne.
The more you scrub, the worse it will get. Use a mild treatment instead. A non-allergic, mild soap is the best option. If you really want to make sure the area is kept clean, you can use the soap with a soft cloth, three times a day. This will prevent the area form becoming re-infected.
3. Give up Make-Up
You have to stop using make-up for a while, because it clogs your pores, these areas need to breathe to heal.
4. Medication
Over the counter medication and treatments must be used with caution. Some medication can be too harsh for your skin type, and will cause further irritation. Overdoing this type of medication can actually worsen your condition.
To summarize, if you have a very severe case of acne, seeing a dermatologist is probably the best. Blasting your pimples with harsh creams and ointments and squeezing pimples is going to make the condition worse and leave you with scars. Choose products wisely and stick to the right treatment for your skin type.
