End Sleepless Nights: 12 Point Sleep Like A Toddler Plan

Want to finally put an end to sleepless nights and exhausting days? You can! Sleep is natural and barring new babies and other unavoidable disturbances we can all get the sleep we need every night if we make some simple little changes in our lives.

How did you sleep when your were a little child? Maybe your Mom gave you a sleeping pill to get you off to sleep at night? No? So what do little kids do that lets them sleep so well? For a start they go to bed when they are tired and they don’t lie there worrying about the day.

Toddlers sleep until they have had enough sleep, not until the alarm clock drags them from their slumber. They don’t feel stressed by long hours of work and they don’t smoke or drink coffee and colas. Lets see what else are toddlers doing right? Exercise! Yes, a toddler keeps going all day, you don’t see many couch potatoes in that age group.

Once upon a time we lived pretty much like our toddlers do today. But once the light bulb was invented our troubles started. Edison made it possible for us to ignore night and day and to work and play 24/7. We can’t go back to those days before electric light, cell phones, computers and all night shopping but we can make some changes in our lifestyles that will help us to sleep.

Lets think about making some changes in our lifestyles. These simple things can end your insomnia for good. Here then is your “12 Point Sleep Like A Toddler Plan”.

  1. Don’t eat or drink anything containing caffeine after 4.00pm

  2. No nicotine or alcohol within the last hour before bedtime.

  3. Have a small carbohydrate snack such as a sandwich, plus a milky drink at bedtime.

  4. Exercise for 30 minutes every day but not just before you go to bed.

  5. Stop working at least an hour before bedtime and never take work to bed.

  6. Don’t expose yourself to light in the late evening, that includes your computer screen.

  7. Don’t think about daytime problems in bed, take some deep breaths and relax.

  8. Learn and practice some relaxation exercises such as meditation or PMR

  9. Go to bed at the same time every night and early enough to give you 8 hours sleep.

  10. Don’t change your bedtime routine at the weekend.

  11. Care about yourself enough to go home and to bed early, even if you are socializing.

  12. Don’t use sleeping pills, they impair you more than tiredness does.

All of these tips will help you if you carry them out regularly and for some time.
