Exercising Via Walking

by Linda MacDoyle

Walking is still an excellent form of exercise that any physician will recommend especially if you have problems with other physical activities. It is amazing how the simple act of walking for about half an hour per day every day will increase your level of fitness, improve breathing, lung capacity and cardiovascular health. Some people like to intersperse their normal walking with short bursts at a faster pace which is obviously more tiring.

Taking along a partner can help stop the tedium setting in especially if you never vary your route, which is always a good idea. There are a number of exercises which can be performed using a static machine including rowing, walking, running, stepping, cycling, skiing and even cross training.

For anyone that does little physical activity then regular walking would be about the best type of exercise you could carry out. Other types of exercise also include an additional fitness element so if you were walking with a loaded rucksack, there would be an element of weight training to add to its benefits for example.

Walking is a wonderful way to start your exercise routine as it is low impact, you need no special equipment, and it costs nothing. You’ll only need a good pair of shoes, and women’s Aerosoles will do the trick. You don’t even have to start with the thirty minutes straight away but build up to it gradually so that within a few weeks you will be up to the 30 minutes a day.

The number of health benefits related to the simple act of walking are enormous and it is easy for anyone to do and if you have time why not join a club which should make it more interesting. However, to really give yourself some more versatility then a treadmill can make all the difference with a huge range of difficulty levels and programs all without leaving you home.

The treadmill was an early piece of home fitness equipment and remains toi this day the most popular as it is very versatile. The treadmill works by using a continuous belt that can be adjusted for speed and inclination so it will give the same effect as walking up a hill so the cardiovascular and calorie burning properties of it are excellent.

The heart of your exercise treadmill is its motor and it is this plus the treadmill’s ramp size that are the most important aspects to look for. The treadmill works for a lot of people who like to work out in the privacy of their own home.

But, one of the most appealing aspects is you can grab five or ten minutes walking at any time while you’re eating for a meal or something similar without having to get dressed up; how convenient is that.
