If you have mold on in your carpeting, you are most likely searching for ways to get rid of it. Many products claim to rid of mold; however, it keeps on coming back. The best way to rid of mold is to prevent it from occurring in the first place. If you have spills on your carpet, make sure you clean it up immediately, and then keep dabbing it with a dry towel several times and even use a blow dryer on it until the carpet is completely dry.
You can keep your home mold free by simply cleaning it, vacuuming regularly, and not letting it settle in the first place. When vacuuming, use a vacuum with a HEPA filter to pick up any mold spores that can come into your home from the outside, which can be brought in on kids’ pets, and various other things.
Use a dehumidifier during the summer months, to cut down moisture in the air, especially in basements, or wherever else seems to be a wetness magnet. Use and air ionizer regularly to clean and kill any spores or other bacteria in the air, and use in conjunction with a HEPA filter. Clean up any where that is wet, and if you need too, pull carpets and rugs out of rooms or areas that are prone to problems, like bathrooms, or laundry areas.
You can even use things that are commonly found in homes to permanently rid of mold such vinegar. As well, you can purchase natural products such as tea tree oil, or grapefruit extracts to help the problem. Those choices are a bit more costly, however they are non-toxic and safe to use. Cover the carpet thoroughly with your chosen product until it is well absorbed and then clean it up. Make sure you wear a facemask so you will not breathe in any spores and get sick. Dispose of any items you have used to clean the carpet mold to prevent any recontamination.
Much of the chemicals contained in commercial products are very harmful to humans and pets alike. It is advisable to use natural products that are not only safe, but will effectively eliminate the mold from your carpeting.
