A home remedy to increase your metabolism is the only real way you can actually do it. No pill or supplement will increase your metabolism for you, only you can do it with some lifestyle changes.

Eat more often

The first step to increasing your metabolism is to eat more often. If you’re over weight with a slow metabolism this might come as a surprise to you, but the way you’ve been eating has been slowing your metabolism down. You don’t have to eat more than you are now ( unless you’re not eating enough ), all you have to do is eat smaller meals. A woman needs 2000 calories a day minimum, and a man needs 2500 calories a day.



You just need to spread these calories out into 5 or 6 meals a day, and your meals need to be healthy foods, and not foods that are in some fad diet program. You need to eat a healthy balance of protein, carbs and healthy fats.

Exercise

The next step to speeding up your metabolic rate is to start exercising. You need to lift weights or do body weight exercises to increase your muscle mass, ands you need to do cardio to burn extra calories.

When you increase your muscle mass your metabolism speeds up even when you’re resting. Muscle burns more energy in a resting state than fat does. After researching exactly how many calories a pound of muscle burns every day, I’ve come to the conclusion no one actually knows. Some say it’s as high as 50 calories, and some say it’s as low as 6. What everyone does agree however is, more muscle means you burn more calories, and muscle burns more calories than fat does.

If you can you need to perform some aerobic exercise 3 to 4 times a week. Depending on your weight and the intensity in which you train and hour of cardio can burn between 600 and 1000 calories. this means that 4 sessions of cardio every week has the potential of burning off 2 days worth of the calories that you’ve eaten.

A proper plan

If you feel you need more help, and you’re serious about getting into shape then extra help will put your progress forward months. Some people never get off the ground when losing weight, and resort to going on a fad diet that in the end helps them put on weight. If you think you can do the above without any help then sticking to a proper eating plan and exercise routine will help you speed up your metabolism and burn unwanted fat.
