Learn About STDs And Love Will Not Hurt

by Elizabeth Campbell

Contracting STDs could be a most dreadful condition for anyone, but most especially for women who could be expecting a child at that time this happens. STD can bring about cancer of the uterus and of the cervix, or can be passed on to the baby during or after giving birth. But if having one kind of STD is bad enough, still a person can be inflicted with more than one kind of STD at the same time.

First, a popular STD is Chlamydia infection. It is caused by a bacteria and it usually does not develop any symptoms. However, there can be noticed vagina or penis discharges, pain, or burning feeling while urinating. It is very unpleasant but it can be treated.

Genital herpes has viral origin. It develops as blisters covering genital organs and it can be transmitted from the mother to the baby. As far as treatment is concerned, it reduces the frequency of occurrence and the severity of the lesions, but it does not eliminate the infection.

Hepatitis B is highly connected to sexual contact. Since the disease affects the liver, it causes the eyes and the skin to turn yellow. Fever, pains and extreme feeling of exhaustion are some of the indications of this illness. The illness becomes fatal if not treated early. It could also lead to liver cirrhosis or hepatic cancer. Regrettably, there is still no known cure for this disease. There are hepatitis vaccines though, which can immunize us against the disease.

One of the more common STD is the gonorrhoea. Discharges from vagina and penis are the primary symptoms of this disease. One will also experience pain while urinating. However, gonorrhoea can be cured.

Now, syphilis does not manifest devastating symptoms in its early stage. It can begin with painless sores at the genital area, which can disappear and may appear to be already cured. After sometime, the skin rashes would reappear together with headaches and joint pains. If not properly diagnosed and treated, it can lead to mental illness.

Genital wart is another form of STD caused by a virus. Painless warts in the shape of small cauliflowers grow in the genital and anal area. Genital warts can be treated in many ways.

Then there is lice infectation that can cause a STD. One can catch these small insects from infested clothes or linen, and then they nest in the pubic hair. It is an extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing affliction, but can be readily treated.

There is another parasitic infection that attacks the skin and produces scabs. The disease is spread swiftly through, again, sexual contact and use of infested items, such as clothes, furniture, bed linens, etc.; it can also be treated.

Even though most of the STDS can be treated, one should not readily dismiss, no matter how minor, the tell tale signs of possible infection. Prompt consultation with a doctor can go a long way in arresting further aggravation of one’s condition as well as the possibility of infecting innocent others. Sex education could impart useful information to develop understanding of sex in its totality, not just the fun part, but the responsibility that goes with it as well.
