Whilst it is known medical fact that there are a few conditions that can cause a person to gain weight like thyroid or hormone problems, by far the biggest contributor to weight gain is too much food. There are many weight loss foods that actively help the reduction of excess weight and anyone can learn about them. You are what you eat as the saying goes so if you want that great shape then you have to put in the effort an eat foods which promote weight loss. There are now quite a number of foods that help weight loss and are also enjoyable with some of these listed here.
You should try meals that have a variety of vegetables and although all will be good for you there are some that are better when it comes to weight loss like peas, boiled beans, cabbage and brussels. Any spaghetti meal that has tomato sauce is going to be good for you and if you want to add some meat to go with it then why not the low fat, low cholesterol veal.
For lovers of fish, why not steam some white fish alongside your vegetables for a meal that is low in calories but very healthy and full of taste. You can even eat fresh sweet cheese providing it is low fat but yoghurt; porridge and even dark rice are healthy weight loss foods.
Of course fruit and vegetables should not even have to be mentioned but almost all of them have beneficial effects on the system and are foods that help with weight loss. Even the likes of strawberries, kiwi fruit and water melons are excellent examples of fruits that have this dual role of health and weight loss functions. Grapes can also be good but bananas and figs actually contain high amounts of calories although bananas are an excellent fuel source when you are carrying out physical activity. Most vegetables that are frequently used in salads such as tomatoes, celery, lettuce and cucumbers are also very good at helping with weight loss.
Foods with high a sugar content (amongst others) like chocolate, cakes and fast foods are not good for healthy weight loss, in fact probably the complete opposite; unhealthy weight gain. However, there is some great low-fat source of energy you can take advantage of in special products such as low fat ice-cream and cookies, dark chocolate, low-fat mayonnaise and the list could go on. Low-fat foods are not necessarily a bad thing but that is not the end of the subject so before you include low-fat versions of all your favorite foods, check the labels carefully as you may find you will not lose weight at all.
