Coral Calcium provides bioavailable calcium as well as other vitamins & minerals. Our Coral Calcium from Okinawa is fossilized and gathered from above the sea.
Coral is a naturally balanced source of organic calcium and a diversity of trace minerals found in the human body. Nature’s Way respects the fragile ecosystem of the ocean and its living coral reefs. That’s why our coral calcium is gathered from “fossilized” Okinawan sources geologically pushed above sea level thousands of years ago - not dredged from the ocean floor. Rich in organic calcium with a diversity of trace minerals, it’s health from the sea without hurting the sea.
Two Types
Coral calcium commonly comes from two sources in the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa:
- Fossilized coral wihcih is gathered on land from coral that was geologically pushed above sea level thousands of years ago.
- Marine coral which is coral debris dredged from the ocean floor.
Advantage of Fossilized Coral
Gathering fossilized coral above sea level respects the fragile ocean and its living coral reef - as neither are touched in any way.
Coral larvae propagate in dead coral debris lying along the ocean floor. Dredging such debris to collect marine coral can disrupt ocean ecology and affect the living reef.
To protect life within the sea, Nature’s Way recommends coral from the fossilized source.
Importance of Mineral Balance
|

Trace minerals are critical to many body functions. Good health can depend upon maintaining a proper mineral balance, as a deficiency or excess of one can directly affect the absorption or function of another. Calcium (Ca), for example, directly affects or is affected by 8 other minerals, which in turn affect others and so on. The diagram to the right illustrates the interactive relationships between many of the minerals found within the body.
