The most well known Japanese green tea variety is known as “Bancha.” Hojicha is made by roasting Bancha leaves at a high temperature until they turn reddish-brown and take on a strong aromatic fragrance and roasted flavor.
How does it taste? Pleasantly nutty and smoky with slightly bitter and astringent undertones. Add a slice of lemon or orange if desired.
