In the United States, one of the best places to hike begins in Appalachia. Here, the beauty sprawls from Maine to Georgia along a 2,175 mile long trail. With this length, you can choose a short hike in one area or choose to go on an actual journey through the fourteen states covered by this trail. Many different options for scenic routes are available. Over four million people per year visit and take in the natural wonders of this particular track. Of course, there are many reasons to hike, including exercise, study of the natural world, or simply for aesthetic reasons. If the last is your reason, you will not be disappointed in the Appalachians. From the four falls of the Penobscot River to the rapids of the Potomac in Virginia, waterfalls, chasms, and even gorges await your discovery!
