Herbal Acne Treatments: Do They Effective In The Long Run?

by Mike Walden

Do herbal treatments really work? Discover the truth that I have learnt through seven long years of research, the truth that no naturopath, no herbal practitioner, no dermatologist will ever tell you.

Let’ get introduced to herbs

Herbs have been used for various purposes all over the years. Not only for curing acnes but they have been used to promote love, spirituality, birth, energy. Herbal medicines are most popular because of their gentle qualities and no side effects.

Herbs are powerhouses packed with nutrients. Herbs have the ability to replenish your body with the required nutrients that help the system to heal itself gradually. Herbs address not only the symptoms of a problem but the underlying root cause itself.

In my seven years of research I have tried and tested various herbs with varying degrees of potency and different people suffering from different types of acnes and of varying degrees of severity. And my conclusions that I have drawn are: herbal acne treatments when chosen correctly and taken correctly do actually work. However there is one drawback: herbal acne treatment work only for a short time and only when they are combined with other protocols that take care of various other factors that lead to acne.

How do herbal acne treatments work?

Not every herb is the same neither do they work in the same way. Herbs in fact work different and at a different pace with different individuals. Herbs are packed with nutrients and they work through our glands and help nourish our body and help in the production of hormones. They also help in toning, nourishment and cleansing, regulation and the healing process. Since herbs work with the body they are able to address not only the symptoms like the conventional methods, they address the root cause itself. And since herbs address the deep rooted actual cause they work in a low and gradual process.

Herbs don’t work individually rather the herbs work collectively i.e. each herb contributing in taking care of one factor that’s causing the problem. When taken with the right food items like fresh fruits and vegetables herbs work more effectively.

Like any other herbal treatment, herbal acne treatments also lead to a temporary healing crisis where the acne condition worsens before getting better. The intensive stimulation of the body triggered by herbs leads to the expulsion of lots of toxins in the blood stream which aggravates the acne condition for the time being. But this is in fact effective as it helps in restoring the body to the homeostasis phase and pushes the body to heal itself faster.

When taken in the form of blend or tincture herbal acne treatments prove really effective. They purify the blood of toxic build ups, help restore hormonal balance and enhance live functions and help it in expelling excess hormones and toxics out of the body. They also help in fighting Candida and various fungal infections that afflict the eliminations organs and worsen acnes condition.

The results are only for a short time - this is the only problem with herbal treatments.

Why don’t herbal treatments have a permanent effect?

Herbs do help the body in healing and rejuvenating itself by breaking up toxins and helping in the cleansing process but herbs can never completely and permanently cure your acnes.

The two reasons why this is so:

  1. To permanently and completely cure your acnes you need to optimize your lifestyle and help your hormones reach the right balance, you also need have your elimination organs in good health. Herbs though definitely help in this process but they can never be a substitute.

Example: If you are suffering from toxic build up in your blood like most acne sufferers herbs that help in cleansing the blood however potent they may be they can never be a substitute for blood and liver cleansing processes. In the same way that a mechanical issue in your car can’t simply be fixed by just a change in the oil or the fuel.

  1. Though some like Echinacea (helps in reducing inflammation and helps in the healing process) and aloe vera (loaded with astringent and anti-bacterial qualities) can be continued for a long time span most herbs should not be continued for long. The reason being; most herbs like dandelion boost up a organ to function in top gear for some time, which itself can be dangerous on a long time span, but then it stops working. That’s the nature of herbs.

There is another reason why herbs work only for a short while. The healing crisis that they create in the body pushes the body to work harder in order to cleanse itself and eventually the body neutralized the potency level of the herbs.

Acne herbal treatments work better when working in tandem with other protocols

There are various herbs that help in reducing symptoms. Some herbs can be used as effecting cleansing elements. Some boost up the functioning of various organs. Some help fight fungal infections, some help build up the hormonal balance, some strengthen the liver and help in purifying the blood. And all these together help in positively taking care of acne condition.

However, these herbs end up in tiring the liver by over stimulating it in expelling toxics and thus eventually when the liver exhausts itself the positive effect of the herbs over your acne condition also gradually diminishes.

It is better to strengthen the liver in such a way and beforehand o that the liver continues to expel toxics and excess hormones out of the body even after the temporary boost up by herbs ahs been over.

Also since this hormonal imbalance and the toxic build up in the body is caused by carious internal and external factors and as these cleansing process are very complex the herbs require the help of various protocols other than the strengthening the liver in order to successfully cure the acnes.

Conclusion: An acne treatment to work effectively needs herbs to work in tandem with other hormone balancing and cleansing protocols. Also it needs to be kept in mind that herbs work in cycles, like taking them 2-3 weeks regularly then discontinuing them for the next 2-3 weeks.
