Topical Acne Treatments Are Inefficient In The Long Run

by Mike Walden

Topical acne treatment, as the name suggests, is commonly used to treat and control acne. But is there actually such a miracle cure available in the market?

It specifically refers to medication that can be bought with or without a physician’s prescription and also one that is used only for external application to the skin and not for oral consumption. These medications are available as gels, liquids, lotions, powders and creams. With a plethora of such products available in the market, it is rather difficult and confusing to decide which of these would suit our individual requirements and effectively cure the acne.

The most popular but not necessarily the most effective acne treatments are as follows. Benzoyl Peroxide successfully opens up the blocked pores of the sebum gland and destroys acne bacteria thereby reducing the symptoms of acne. Tazortene; an antibiotic that works as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial medication to treat acne includes Erythromycin, Azelaic, Clindamycin and Sulfacetamide Retinoids have been known to open up the blocked pores of the sebum glands and also effectively treat blackheads and whiteheads. This category includes Tretinion under the brand names like Retin-A, Avita and Stevia-A.

A number of medicines are also available as a combination of two or more drugs such as topical benzoyl peroxide combined with erythromycin (Benzamycin ) or erythromycin combined with topical retinoid (Stievamycin)

Do Topical Acne Treatments actually work?

I have been experimenting for upwards of 7 years with all conceivable topical acne treatments which exist and after extensive research, it is my considered opinion that your acne can never be cured by any known topical acne treatment. The reason for this is that the appearance of acne in a person is a sign that there is something deeply wrong with him internally and it is not just an external phenomenon. So, while there are several topical treatments which may offer temporary relief, they really do nothing more than camouflage the symptoms.

However, if a natural holistic approach is followed, the system is cleansed from within and automatically the skin becomes acne free permanently.
