Using monistat and yeast infection is getting worse

A lady emailed me the other day saying she is using monistat and her yeast infection is getting worse. This can really be only one of two things.

1. It’s not a yeast infection

The first thing I did was email this lady back straight away asking her, “had she had seen her doctor yet?” If the answer to this was no, I suggested with some urgency that she should see her doctor to make sure that she has a yeast infection, and not something more serious. If it isn’t a yeast infection it could be something like…

  • Vulvitis
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Bacterial vaginosis
  • Urinary tract infection

Treating any of these bacterial infections with a yeast infection treatment will only mask the symptoms. While the symptoms are being masked more damage can be being done to the reproductive organs.

This is why seeing your doctor at the first sign of an infection is so important. Even if you have suffered from yeast infections before, and you think you know what the symptoms are telling you. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

2. She has candidiasis

Having a yeast infection of the intestines which is also known as candidiasis is a reason that Monistat ( or any other yeast infection treatment ) is not curing a vaginal yeast infection. This is because as when the treatment has killed all the Candida yeast, when the treatment stops the yeast infection returns, and it spreads from the intestines into your bowel and urinary tract.

Keeping this cycle going runs the risk of the Candida becoming resistant to the monistat. This kind of yeast infection now has to be cured with a anti Candida diet, an oral anti-fungal and a good quality probiotic.

Many women just continue with the monistat for a long time in the hope that one day when they stop the treatment the yeast infection will be cured. This very rarely happens, and will just lead to more yeast infection symptoms that you won’t think have anything to do with the Candida in your intestines. The yeast will also become resistant to the treatment that’s being used, and it will be of no use anymore even for future yeast infections.

Cure your yeast infection naturally

In this situation curing your yeast infection naturally will be your best option. You can start starving the Candida, and killing it with natural anti fungals that you can rotate so they don’t become resistant to them. Then repopulate the intestines with benficial bacteria.

Hopefully this woman doesn’t have something more serious, and her health gets restored to it’s optimum very soon.
